Alstroemeria’s on Portra – A Still Life

As mentioned in previous articles, Kelsey often buys me a bouquet of flowers with our groceries that I use in still life shoots. In particular, she likes to buy Alstroemerias because they last a really long time and come in different colors. This particular bouquet was red and white, so I thought Alstroemeria’s on Portra… Continue reading Alstroemeria’s on Portra – A Still Life

Catching the Light – Still Life with my Hasselblad

I haven’t done a review of my Hasselblad 500 C/M yet, but I want to use it and get to know it well before I do. The main thing I have done with it is still life. I just got the negatives back from the lab of a roll of Kodak Portra 800 I shot… Continue reading Catching the Light – Still Life with my Hasselblad

Still Life on Kodak Portra 400 – A Good Practice for Beginners

Since Covid hit I started to realize I needed to get more creative with my compositions if I was going to be able to continue to shoot film while I was stuck at home. I have done still life photos here and there, usually on black and white film. This time I tried color with… Continue reading Still Life on Kodak Portra 400 – A Good Practice for Beginners

One Shot With Aly – these Boots are made for Walkin’

This picture was taken with my Nikon F or I should say one of my Nikon F’s. I had the waist level finder attached for some shots I took in the grocery store. I’ll talk about that in another blog, but I wanted to talk about this shot because I found that the waist level… Continue reading One Shot With Aly – these Boots are made for Walkin’

Polaroid Week – Spring 2021

In 2019, Polaroid Week was one of the first things that initiated me into the film community. It’s when I made one of my first YouTube videos and wrote one of my first blog posts. I can still remember the fun I had, and the feeling of purpose after being really sick and isolated for… Continue reading Polaroid Week – Spring 2021

Shooting 35mm With My Rolleiflex Automat and the Rolleikin 2 Adapter – Part 2

In my first article on this subject I talked about the specs of my Rolleiflex Automat, and my experiences shooting 35mm film with the Rolleikin 2 installed. In this article, I am going to expand on that by talking more about the adapter and the pictures that can be had with this set-up. The Adapter… Continue reading Shooting 35mm With My Rolleiflex Automat and the Rolleikin 2 Adapter – Part 2

The Mamiya 645 Pro – Finding the right medium format camera

you can’t count out the equipment you use to get the picture you want. Sure, if you know what you’re doing and you have the eye, you can get a picture with a box camera or a digital camera. It doesn’t matter. But you also have to remember that if you’re going to be doing this for more than a couple days on a whim, you want a camera that suits your style, is comfortable for you to work with, and that gives you the features you need to achieve that style.

One Shot with Aly – Remnants of my Father

When someone you love passes away and is suddenly no longer in your life, you’re left with remnants of their life. Remnants of who they once were. Its strange to think of this irony that when you die you can’t take things with you, but you do leave them behind, and sometimes they live on for you taking on a whole different value.

The Nikon S2 Rangefinder

The Nikon S2 was released in December 1954 at a time when Nikon was struggling to keep up with the Leica M3 Rangefinder. They didn’t catch up with Leica until 1957 when they released the SP and then surpassed them with their first SLR the Nikon F. Even with this lag, the Nikon S2 was… Continue reading The Nikon S2 Rangefinder
