Earlier last year I shot a whole day on film. If you’ve been following along, you know I already shared the black and white film I shot that day, which was Street Candy’s ATM400 and MTN100. Then Part 1 of the color film from that day was a couple Lomography films that I had quite the experience with. Now this is Part 2 of my color film from that day, and I think I have saved the best for last. I’m really happy with how these turned out, and I hope you feel the same.
*As always, there will be a video version down below if you prefer to watch instead of read. It will include a lot more footage and pictures than the article.
A Beautiful Day on Film
That day we decided to start downtown and walk around the area. I had always wanted to explore this spot. It is located near my doctor’s office and on the water, so I have meant to do this for a very long time.
We parked by a bank that had this very big Banyan tree just growing out of the cement. I would love to come back and get even more details one day with a longer lens. Check out the video for more photos of the Banyan tree.

Next, we walked over to this house that is so unique. It catches my eye every time I drive past it. It’s being overgrown with vines more and more each time I see it. Out front was parked this old Chevy truck, and I tried to get a photo of the interior. I was a little afraid that the owner would come out and yell at me, so I didn’t take as much time with my compositions as I would’ve liked to.

Then, we walked over to this gigantic banyan tree that is growing wildly over the road and over a building behind it. Its limbs are so huge and just protrude into every direction, it makes you dizzy. There is so much going on under that tree that, just like the other Banyan, I hope to come back again to get more details.

Next, we decided to take a drive down to the beach since the weather was so nice. Alaina had never been to one yet and had never seen the Ocean. When we got there it was just too windy. I was afraid sand would be blown into my camera, and it was too cold for us to sit and be able to enjoy ourselves. So I got several photos and we left. You can read about the rolls of Lomgraphy film I shot there that day in Part 1.

A Day on Color Film Comes to an End
Finally, we headed back downtown and decided to walk around the shops. We were coming upon golden hour, so the lighting was beautiful.

It’s the perfect spot for street photography, another scouting note I made to myself to come back and do more. We did come up on this older man playing his saxophones for tips. I asked him if I could take his picture and he joked that I could if I paid. After I gave him a tip, he played a song for us. I got a few photos of him and I really like this one.

Final Thoughts
By the end of the day, I was just buzzing with excitement. I was so happy to just have gotten back into the groove of taking photos again. Hopefully I can do it again soon. I love the colors of Portra 400 and 800. The Kodak Gold 200 on the beach wasn’t too bad. It’s a little warm for my taste, but with the price of Portra these days, it’s worth it.
I got a couple favorites from these rolls that will go into projects I’m working on. Not to mention, I had a really fun time with my family. So these pictures will always evoke great memories for me. Let me know in the comments if you have ever shot an entire day on color film. I always love to hear from you.
Until next time, stay motivated and keep shooting.
