When I started shooting film again a little over a year ago now, I never thought I would have a website, a YouTube channel and now two zines to share my work with the community.
I have always loved photography and cameras. I wanted to become a photo journalist when I was a kid, but due to health issues, I went into web design instead because I knew it was something I could do freelance. I did graduate with two degrees, one in Art and one in graphic design. I even had my own website design business, but then my health took a turn for the worse and changed my life.
After two surgeries and being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, my life and I were never the same. I have spent the last 10 years now spending countless weeks in the hospital, countless hours in doctors offices, and so many agonizing days in my bed and bathroom.
These experiences have had a lasting effect on me including PTSD. I thought my life was over. I thought I was eventually going to die, never serving any purpose in this world. I never thought I would be able to create art again.
Film photography and especially the cameras that take those photos, opened up something inside of me that I didn’t know existed. I have never felt a passion for anything in my life the way I do for this hobby. It has helped me to get up out of bed, not just to go to doctors appointments, but for a purpose, and that is to make art again.
This series came about after I started compiling all of the shots I was taking from the car on the way to and from all of those doctors appointments and procedures over this past year. It has helped me tremendously with the severe anxiety I have always felt before these appointments and because of that, I don’t see myself giving it up anytime soon.

The first ‘zine is titled with the name of the series, Riding in Cars with Film. All of the photos were taken on black and white 35mm films with several of the SLR cameras in my collection.

The second book in the series is called Riding in Cars with Color Film. As the title suggests, these photos were taken on 35mm color film. This book is larger than the first one. Almost double the pictures.
I genuinely hope you will enjoy both books. I plan on making more in the future for this series and others. All profit made from these books will go right back into the upkeep of this website and the film and supplies I need to do my reviews. I hope you have enjoyed my articles and videos, and I sincerely hope you will enjoy my zines. I would love to continue to create for you and for myself.
